Hopping into Pond Life! (Threes)

Our classroom turned into a pond this week!

Who knew that we could learn so much science from pond life! From metamorphosis to fun facts about ducks to fun tadpole observations, we learned a lot!

We were very busy with our centers and stations this week! We enjoyed making beautiful yellow ducks and small brown name turtles! We had the opportunity to observe a bunch of tadpoles as well, thanks to Baerli bringing them in for us! We helped our plastic frogs to "catch flies" in our sensory bin and even pretended to be frogs and measured how far we can jump. We continued to work on identifying our letters, counting objects to match written numbers, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, making patterns, and writing numbers. So much learning going on in all these smart brains!

We learned lots of neat pond facts this week. See if your child can sing our metamorphosis song or tell you any interesting facts about a frog's life cycle. We also learned a fun frog song called "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" that your child will hopefully remember! We read a variety of books, including Great Wide Mouthed Frog, Jump, Frog, Jump!; The Teeny Weeny Tadpole, Five Little Ducks, and Turtles. We also did a fun sink or float science experiment to see what types of objects would continue floating on a pond and what sinks.

Feeding the frogs!

Someone worked at the "gas station"
the whole time we were outside!

Such a pretty day!

Will it float or sink?

Play dough fun!

This week's big birthday boy!

Look at that good painting!

Reading about ponds!

We love to find letters we know!

Just enjoying reading the big books!
