Fall Leaves Fall!

We had another fun week in our class! This week, I was amazed at how great of friends everyone in our class is becoming! Each week, I see their interaction increase, their ability to play nicely grow, and their relationships with one another develop. As their teachers, Nicole and I feel that this is so important and so very exciting to see.

We had a fun week learning about fall weather and how leaves change in the fall. We enjoyed reading the books Fall Leaves Fall, When the Leaf Blew In, and Leaves are Falling. We also enjoyed creating our own blowing leaf projects and our own leaf man puppets! We talked about how L is for Leaves and loved looking at all of the different leaves that we brought in from our yards!

We have been working on tracing our names with our fingers and sequencing the letters of our names, which we continued to work on this week with our animal name puzzles. These are a hit in our room! Creating "name puzzles" is also something that can be done at home! We also have enjoyed giving everyone more time to look at books independently in our class library. They are doing a great job with this!

To go along with our leaf them, we also enjoyed sorting leaves by colors, sorting leaves with uppercase and lowercase letter Ls, doing leaf rubbings, and counting leaves. We are continuing to work on one-to-one correspondence (being able to point to and count individual objects accurately). This is definitely something that can easily be practiced at home counting socks, at the grocery counting apples and cans, and in the yard counting rocks! Another skill we worked on this week in our table trading was finishing color patterns. We definitely have some experts in our room when it comes to patterns!

This week, see if your child can....

1. Tell you the story of Daniel in the lions' den! We talked about how God is always with us.
2. Practice our Thanksgiving Bible verse: "Always give thanks to God."
3. Collect five leaves and put them in order from smallest to biggest.
4. Make a card for someone they love. (Review letter L for love.)
5. Put the letters of their name in order (with magnets, cut strips of paper, etc.)

We worked hard creating our leaf puppets!

Making shape outlines with foam leaf beads!

Sorting is fun when we work together!

Wow! We are doing so well tracing!

Look at these good patterns!

Such hard workers!

We built our fine motor skills by lacing leaf beads on pipe cleaners!
