Community Helpers (Kinder Prep)

We had another great week this week in our class! This week was all about community helpers! We also spent a day talking about dentists and about dental health. See if your child can remember how to keep their teeth healthy!

On Monday, we enjoyed all kinds of "tooth" fun! We practiced brushing and flossing on teeth made from Legos and Coke bottles! We also practiced writing our letters and numbers with fun tooth games! To learn about what foods are good (and bad) for our teeth, we did a tooth cut and paste craft. We even did math with toothbrushes, measuring how long our toothbrushes are with bears, counting cubes, and buttons! Learning about our teeth can be so much fun!

We are hard workers in our class!

Look at all those letters!

We also focused on nonfiction books this week... We read about dental health on Monday and then read books about a variety of community helpers on Tuesday and Wednesday, including doctors, firemen, dentists, chefs, police officers, firemen, and more! We even got to have a police officer come and visit us on Wednesday. See if your child can tell you any of the safety lessons (the importance of knowing their address and the importance of never touching a gun). To go along with our theme, we had independent reading time to look through some nonfiction books about community helpers, pretended to be doctors by making our very own stethoscopes, practiced being chefs in our play dough kitchen, and practiced our color words by coloring in different community helper vehicles.

Number games are so much fun!

Reading all about community helpers!

We enjoy cutting practice with
Mrs. Crystal!

We are good at building our last names!

We enjoyed making our "town"
look beautiful!

Letter writing practice!

We are becoming sight word experts!

What would you like to eat?!

We were great listeners for our guest!

We even constructed and decorated our very own town full of community helpers this week! We enjoyed sharing the building we brought for the town as well as what we would like to be when we grow up!

Such sweet friends

This sweet friend brought a barber shop
for our town but wants to be a police officer!

Our town even had a hospital and ambulance!

And as always, we enjoy building our social skills with play time and our gross motor skills in the green room!

Bridge

We also had a great week in our Bridge class this week! We spent extra time talking about dental care and community helpers! We enjoyed making police cars with our feet, pearly white smiles with paint dabbers, and community helper hats! We also extended our learning with extra reading time, sight word practice, and even CVC word writing practice! We are doing such a great job!

Parachute fun!

So many police cars in our room!

We know how to write sentences!
