Community Helpers! (Threes)

We had such a fun week learning about what it means to be a community helper! We enjoyed a visit from a vet and a police officer and also spent a day talking about dentists and dental health! See if your child can remember any safety facts that the police officer shared or any tips for keeping their teeth healthy!

We had lots of highlights this week! Getting to make our very own stethoscopes to wear when the vet came was very fun. We also had fun building our town of buildings and sharing what we want to be when we grow up! We read about lots of different community helpers, including firemen, chefs, and more! To go along with our theme, we practiced being chefs in our play dough kitchen, made our own police badges, and practiced our colors by coloring different community helper vehicles.

For dental health, we had all kinds of "tooth" fun! We practice brushing and flossing teeth made from Legos and two-liter bottles in our sensory bin! We also practiced writing our letters and numbers with fun tooth games. We even did math with toothbrushes, measuring how long our toothbrushes are with counting cubes, bears, and buttons! We talked about ways to keep our teeth healthy and strong!

This week, ask your child if they can...
1. Remember how many times a day to brush their teeth.
2. Tell you what sound C makes. (We acted like we were cutting with scissors when we made the C sound.)
3. Count to 20.
4. Remember what a veterinarian does.
5. Sort two different beginning sounds.
