We enjoyed reading lots of great Dr. Seuss books this week, including The Cat in the Hat, Oh The Places You'll Go, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; and Green Eggs and Ham. We were so thankful for our awesome guest reader, Mrs. Cindy (aka Cruz's grandma) who came in to read to us and share their love for reading. We talked all about how important and how fun it is to read!
Every week, we try to do several activities that build on important early literacy skills... To work on differentiating between initial sounds, we had fun sorting magnet letters into pockets. We also used our poem of the week to help us come up with rhyming words. (Rhyming is an important phonemic awareness skill.)

We had fun with lots of other activities that went along with our Dr. Seuss books! We made Cat in the Hat name hats and practiced our painting skills by painting Thing 1 and his crazy hair. After reading Oh the Places You'll Go, we talked about what we want to be when we grow up. Check out the hot air balloons hanging on the bulletin board outside of our room to see what your child said they wanted to be when they grow up. We also practiced counting with a fun "fishing" game and a goldfish counting mat to go along with the book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. After reading Green Eggs and Ham, we got to try green eggs and then vote whether we liked green eggs or not. We also used shape green eggs to help us review our shapes!
We continued our March "Follow Jesus" theme... This time we talked about the 12 disciples and how Jesus called the first four friends, who were all fishermen.

We continue to be amazed by the great readers in our class! We hope that after this Read Across America week, everyone is reminded of how important it is to read. This week, see if your child can...
1. Count to 20 with you.
2. Help you with a rhyming book or rhyming activity.
3. Make a pattern out of objects in your house. (We have only done AB patterns, but some of us are ready for more!)
4. Think of a way they can show others they follow Jesus!
5. Look for numbers on signs with you as you drive.

Counting is even more fun when you get to eat what you count. :)
Oh the places you'll go...!!
Gluing and designing on our own is so fun!
We are becoming experts on our name!
Just some silly fun with magnets
We "fished" out a number and then wrote that number. Look at that number 10!
We were so cute in our hats!!
We are trying to let everyone do their
crafts more independently.
We are doing so well!
Shape matching
Freddie had another fun adventure!
We LOVED our guest reader!!
We also loved the sunshine :)
Matching with Mrs. Laura! We love visiting with Mrs. Laura's
class on the playground.
Believe it or not... This was the best photo we got. :)
