Hopping Into the Pond! (Kinder Prep)

Our classroom turned into a pond this week!

Who knew that we could learn so much science from pond life! From metamorphosis to fun facts about ducks to crawdad observations, we learned a lot!

We were very busy with our centers this week! We enjoyed making ducks and frog life cycle posters, as well as hand print frogs to put in our portfolios. We had the opportunity to observe crawdads and plants from Mrs. Stacy's pond using magnifying glasses, as well as help our plastic frogs "catch flies" in our sensory bin. Some of the other skills we worked on were cutting wavy lines, sequencing, and writing our sight words. We also worked on reading our color words, making AB and ABB patterns, and doing simple addition. So much learning going on in all these smart brains!

We learned lots of neat pond facts this week. See if your child can sing our metamorphosis song or tell you any interesting facts about a frog's life cycle. We also learned a fun frog song called "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" that your child will hopefully remember! We also made a Venn diagram of how frogs and toads are alike and different after reading a neat frog and toad book.

Such good readers!

Someone wrote a sentence by herself!

Sequencing can be so fun!

This sweet girl showed off her cutting skills!

Quack! Quack!

Uppercase and lowercase matching?
No problem!

Such a hard worker!

Pattern practice!

This guy is a subtraction wiz!

These girls had a blast in the sensory bin!
We also enjoyed writing good luck cards to some elementary friends who are about to take ISTEP! Everyone wrote a special note that said "You can do it!"

What great work, Addi!

To go along with our pond theme, we got to enjoy some fun pond yoga with Mrs. Nicole as well as measure how far we could hop like a frog! We also got to enjoy the sunshine outside!

Such good balance!

One of the sweetest smiles around!

We have such sweet friends in our class!

These girls are so much fun!

How far can you jump?!

Bridge Class

We "hopped" right to learning in Bridge this week as well! With pond life being our focus, we took some time to learn some extra facts about other pond animals. On Monday, we focused on ducks and made ducks out of our hand prints. On Tuesday, we learned all about dragonflies and had fun making a clothespin dragonfly! Wednesday's focus was snakes, and we enjoyed making our own paper plate snakes! We continued to work on teen numbers this week, as well as practiced writing sentences. Of course, we also had time for some extra playing and socializing, as well as some fun bean bag dancing!

This girl is great at patterns!

Putting teen numbers in order was no
trouble for this smart guy!

Crafts with Mrs. Tracy are so much fun!

We loved making dragonflies!

Dragonflies buzzing all over the room!

SSSSSnakes!!

We are experts at writing our letters!
