Stomping Through Dinosaur Week!

Dinosaurs got everyone excited this week! These sweet kiddos bring a smile when they come in the room and leave us smiling when they walk out the door. :)

This week, we talked all about dinosaurs. We made our own hand print stegosauruses, painted a "dinosaur land", stomped like dinosaurs, played with dinosaurs, read books about dinosaurs, and more. We even had fun with the dinosaur footprints that showed up on our playground and the T-Rex that visited our classroom! In our centers, we continued to work on tracing, practiced cutting for the first time, counted/measured with dinosaur bones, reviewed the shapes circle and square, and continued to practice building our names.

We talked about how dinosaurs lived long ago on the earth and that we can only know about them through fossils. We also discussed how God made the dinosaurs long, long ago.

Mrs. Nicole and I also had fun watching all of our sweet friends interact with one another and continue to develop friendships. Every week, we see more hugs and smile as they play together more. This week, I was also struck by how far many of the students have already come. I watched as students correctly gripped their markers, balanced on the balance beam in the green room, and remembered letters we learned over a month ago. I am so proud of this sweet class!

This week, see if your child can...

1. Tell you anything about dinosaurs or fossils
2. Recite September's Bible verse with the motions (Proverbs 3:5) or tell you anything about our Bible story (God keeping his promise to Abraham and Sarah to give them a son).
3. Find the letter D in this week's poem and tell you the sound it makes.
4. Find four squares in your house and count the sides.
5. Practice cutting along a straight line.

We loved our dinosaur water color painting!

We even got to dot the letter D by ourselves!

Tracing with markers is a great way to practice our hand grip!

We had fun drawing our "dinosaur land"
before painting on the dinosaurs!

Dinosaurs everywhere!

These two were very careful putting their dinosaurs on!

Scissor practice was quite the hit!

This girl loved measuring
her dinosaur bones!

Measuring with objects is a great way to practice counting!

A dinosaur came into our room!

This sweet boy is such a great helper!

We have been reading in our library a lot more!

Beep! Beep!

Happy birthday to this big 4-year-old!

We are playing together so nicely!

Reading about dinosaurs!

We love the green room!
