Celebrating Our Nation! (Threes)

We had a great week of learning about our country! In honor of Presidents’ Day, we focused mainly on our presidents. Some of our topics of discussion included the responsibilities of a president, presidential elections and voting, and what presidents appear on different coins. We also discussed George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and looked at the characteristics of the American flag.

To go along with reading the book Duck for President, we had fun making "president" ducks with our hand prints... You can check them out in the hallway! After talking about Abraham Lincoln, we also constructed Popsicle stick log cabins! We also enjoyed learning about how presidents appear on our money. We did a great job sorting coins and investigating what liquids help us clean coins the best! See if your child can remember what we used to clean our pennies!

We also discussed what it means to be a good citizen of our nation. We read a book titled Being a Good Citizen that talked about how we can be good citizens as children. We tied this theme in with our Bible theme for the week on loving and helping one another. See if your child can tell you Matthew 15:12 or remember what the good Samaritan did to help the man who was hurt on the side of the road.

Of course, we also worked on a variety of literacy and math skills this week! We are doing such a great job with our numbers one through ten and are now working on accurately counting to 20. Our letter of the week was the letter K, and we continued to review past letters.

What a great week we had!

See if your child can...

1. Tell you the February Bible Verse (Love one another as I have loved you.)
2. Tell you a few words that start with the S sound.
3. Count to 20.
4. Tell you about the good Samaritan.
5. Name something they would do if they were president.

We are great at finding letters we know!

So much focus!

Red, White, and Blue! (Kinder Prep)

We learned so much this week about our country! From history to current procedures in our government, our minds were going!

We enjoyed constructing flags out of Popsicle sticks, dotting our own flags, doing coin tossing, rubbing, cleaning, and sorting; and talking about what we would do it we were president. Check out some of our fun answers about what we would do if we were president!

We also discussed what it means to be a good citizen of our nation. We read a book titled Being a Good Citizen that talked about how we can be good citizens as children. Following this book, we made a good citizenship mural together that you can find in our classroom! We tied this theme in with our Bible theme for the week on loving and helping one another. See if your child can tell you Matthew 15:12!

We also worked on a variety of literacy and math skills this week! We did a great job with the concept of "greater than" and "less than"! See if your child can remember the song we learned. We also practiced using our sight words to build sentences and continued to practice counting by fives. We truly are learning so much!

We even had a patriotic sensory bin!

We are good at building our last names!

We had fun dotting the stars and stripes!

We love learning about our friends!

We had fun building our sight words!

We can even write sentences!

Look at these great readers!

Coin sorting is fun!

Searching for sight words!

If I were president... :)

We had fun sharing our letter G items!

We also loved getting to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather this week! What beautiful sunshine! As always, we continue to work our minds and muscles in the green room!

Bride Class

We also had a great week in our Bridge class! We used our extra learning time to focus on learning more about our presidents, specifically Abraham Lincoln. We enjoyed finger painting our American flag and painting Abraham Lincoln. We read several nonfiction books, had independent reading time, and had some great discussions! We also had fun with some extra number work... We are becoming experts of teen numbers!

As with our morning class, we continued to take advantage of the beautiful weather!
