Dr. Seuss Week! (Kinder Prep)

Read Across America week was a blast! From silly socks to wacky clothes and more, we had so much fun!

We enjoyed reading lots of great Dr. Seuss books this week, including The Cat in the Hat, Oh The Places You'll Go, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; and Wacky Wednesday.  We were so thankful for our awesome guest readers who came in to read to us and share their love for reading. We also had lots of time to read independently and with partners. See if your child can read the partner reading poem to you from their poetry folder!

One of our main focuses this week was rhyming. We have truly become rhyming experts! We played rhyming games and created rhyming hats to match the Cat in the Hat's. We also began working on addition this week and continued to review color words.

We had fun with lots of other activities! After reading Oh the Places You'll Go, we talked about what we want to be when we grow up. Check out the hot air balloons hanging in the back of our room to see what your child said they wanted to be when they grow up.

We continue to be amazed by the great readers in our class! We hope that after this Read Across America week, everyone is reminded of how important it is to read!

We loved our guest readers!

Bridge Class

Monday was a short but great day! After reading I Can Read with My Eyes Shut, we used blow painting to design our own pictures of Thing 1 and Thing 2! To go along with One Fish, Two Fish, we also used our counting skills to go fishing for numbers, practiced rhyming, and compared the characteristics of humans and fish. We even enjoyed the beautiful sunshine outside!

We spent Tuesday doing lots of fun foot activities to go along with The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss. We had a guest reader named Wilson (who talked to us in both Spanish and English) read the book to us and discuss different animal feet. We also had fun creating foot puppets, measuring our feet with different counting objects, and matching animals with their feet.

On Wednesday, we read the book Green Eggs and Ham! We really got into the rhyming in this book! We are rhyming experts. We also had fun making our own green eggs and ham craft. We continued to practice sight words and our letter writing skills.
