Celebrating Friendship! (Kinder Prep)

We enjoyed another fun week in our class! We combined a few themes this week, focusing on how God made everyone in the world to be unique and different and how He wants us to all show kindness to one another. We celebrated friendship in our class and spent the week talking about how we can be kind friends to one another. We truly have so many sweet friends in our class! Since we won't be at school on St. Patrick's Day, we also learned some about St. Patrick's Day and incorporated rainbows and shamrocks into our activities for the week!

We worked hard at our learning centers this week as well! We continued to practice writing our numbers and letters independently and using our letter and sight word knowledge to read independently. We played several fun shamrock games to practice simple addition and to practice identifying the beginning sounds of words. Everyone is really progressing with both of those skills! To go along with our St. Patrick's Day theme, we also used water color paint to paint rainbows and discover a special message hidden in the rainbow! We also enjoyed a fun friendship matching game and work with our letter of the week (letter Z).

We are doing great building our last names!

Writing color words is so fun!

What's the hidden message?

Fun with our new play dough!

We can find all our sight words!

Such a good reader!

We enjoyed our Fruit Loop rainbows!

Rolling and writing letters!

Look at that good number work!

We learned through several crafts this week as well! Everyone created a cardboard cutout of themselves to hang out on our classroom bulletin board with their friends. We joined these "friends" hand in hand and discussed how we could all be good friends to one another. We also enjoyed making a friendship quilt with our hand prints to show how we can all be kind to one another. On Wednesday, everyone made a friendship shamrock! I hope your child was able to tell you why their classmates are lucky to have them as a friend!

Such sweet friends!

It is so fun hearing from our friends every week to see what items they brought in for show and tell. In addition to lots of zippers and zebras, we had several unique and creative objects this week, including a "zigzag zero" someone drew herself! We also had fun hearing from a guest visitor, Dr. Ernstberger who couldn't make it during community helpers week but still wanted to share with us about how to keep our teeth healthy.

We continue to do a great job in the green room! This week, we added in a little fun with our letter rainbow! We stomped and jumped on each letter as we said its name and sound. We also danced and leaped like Leprechauns!

Bridge Class

We packed a lot into Bridge class again this week! We are getting to be expert sentence writers in this class! We also seem to be becoming quite talented painters! We went a little deeper in talking about St. Patrick's Day during Bridge. We enjoyed finger painting beautiful rainbows and talking about how friendship is golden. We also did some process painting with blue and yellow paint on shamrocks... See if your child can remember what color blue and yellow make when combined. Everyone did very well with our extra number work as well as our sight word practice.

We enjoyed some time outside and, as always, some extra time learning through play! We can't wait for next week!

"I struck gold when we became friends!"

Sweet cousins!

We love Mrs. Traci!

Just getting in some running and chatting!
