Snow was in the air this week in our classroom!
Our inquisitive minds are growing each week! Our secret message that we uncovered this week told us that God made each of us unique (just like the snowflakes).
We also had fun talking about snowmen this week! Two of the books we read were Sneezy the Snowman and Snowmen All Year! We painted our own melted snowmen as well as built play dough snowmen! (A big thanks to my mom for bringing this fun snowman building activity to us!)
Our letter of the week was the letter I... I is for igloos and ice! We had fun using Legos to paint igloos and snow all on our own! We also focused on the number 8 and did a review of colors. I was able to complete assessments, which will be sent home next week. We are all so smart and learning so much!
Some of our other fun centers this week included rescuing animals stuck in ice with salt water droppers, beading snow flakes, decorating our own snowflakes, and building snowmen and snowflakes with pattern blocks. We even worked on our fine motor skills by using "snow shovels" (clothespins) to clean up the blizzard that hit our green room!
Our science experiment for the week was discussing why salt is used on the roads and sidewalks when there is snow or ice. We watched as salt melted a block of ice outside on our playground! Pretty cool!
We continued our January focus on the miracles of Jesus, this week on feeding the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish. We are getting very good at our verse... "With God, all things are possible!"
Here are some things to ask your child this week... Can you...
1. Tell me the sound letter I makes?
2. Write an eight in the air and count eight objects? ("Make a snake. Go back up and make an 8.")
3. Tell me something special about how God made you?
4. Tell me two miracles Jesus did?
5. Draw a triangle, square, circle, rectangle, and oval?
I is for igloo! We are becoming very independent!
We try to do beading or lacing every week for great fine motor practice!
