P is for Pets!

What a great week we had in our class! Everyone enjoyed celebrating the animals in our families!

This week, we had a special visit from our friend Amara. Thanks to Amara, we were able to learn about service dogs and what they do. We enjoyed learning that some pets have very special jobs. We also loved getting a surprise visit from two more sweet visitors… Bunnies! Thank you, Mrs. Nicole, for sharing your pets with us!

See if your child can do the following things this week...

1. Help you build or draw the letters M, P, and F (even out of one of their favorite snacks)!
2. Find three things in your house that start with the letter P.
3. Count three of their favorite things in the house and write the number 3 with chalk. (We learned "Around a tree, around a tree, that's the way we make a 3!")
4. Tell you something they learned about the visiting service dog.
5. Help you take care of your family pet (or pretend to take care of a stuffed animal pet).

Amara's caretaker showed us some
of her neat tricks!

We were such good listeners!

Bob the bunny got lots of love!

This sweet friend was very gentle!

We also had fun learning about the letter P this week and working on counting and sorting. We made popcorn letter Ps, sang letter P songs, and made our own pet rocks! (We had a few left in the room if anyone is missing theirs.) In our centers, we counted and sorted bones, counted button spots on puppies, put circle spots on our dog ear headbands, stamped the number of pets we have, and even laced whiskers onto cats. Learning sure can be so much fun!

Painting our pets rocks was serious business!

We are letter P experts!

This class of friends has the sweetest smiles!

This sweet girl carefully placed each spot!

Making Popcorn Ps was so much fun!

Someone was great at sorting!

We continued to explore through play, work on being good friends, and learn how to work together. The highlight of our play this week was taking care of our stuffed animals in the “animal hospital” that came to our room! We also had fun building "animal houses" for our pets.

These two sweet girls took extra special care of the animals!

We love to drive the school bus!

Building houses for our pets!

Just helping out a friend!
