Our First Week!

We were off to a great start in our room this week! We truly had so much fun together! Mrs. Katie and I feel so blessed to teach each of these precious children this year!

As part of our first week, we celebrated how God created us all as special individuals. Our theme was All About Me! We talked about being thankful that God made each of us, and everyone got a chance to draw themselves. (You can find your child's beautiful work of art out on our class bulletin board!) We read the book I Like Myself and enjoyed dancing to our poem All of Me! We will be sending home poetry folders next week, so make sure to look for these!

While we may have had limited time for centers this week, we put our focus on learning our routines and learning to play with one another. Everyone did amazing, and we were so proud of them! Mrs. Katie and I also enjoyed doing "All About Me" pages and measurements for each sweet friend that will appear in your child's portfolio at the end of the year. We will be adding to these binders all throughout the year!

We have Bible stories and verses that we all do at LAP, and this week's story was the parable of the wise and foolish builders. Our class will be doing interactive story time each week, so make sure to ask your child if they can remember the story! To practice the song we learned together, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu5bBDRpzPM

We will begin focusing on letter work more next week, but we did briefly introduce the letter M this week. To practice the letter M, we made macaroni Ms and practiced the sound with saying "Mmm, Mmm, Macaroni!" We also made letter M out of foam beads.

This week at home, see if your child can...

1. Remember our "Hello" song we practiced.

2. Tell you a name of one of their new friends.
3. Use another object to form a letter M.

We cannot wait to grow and learn each week!

We sure couldn't help but smile at all of these sweet faces!

We did so well playing with one another and exploring our classroom!

We also enjoyed our playground and the sunshine!

We are learning how to do table trading!

Two Weeks of Fun!

We had a wonderful week celebrating Easter in our class! Christ has risen!

We did a variety of Easter activities, including an Easter egg hunt! We also painted crosses with our fingerprints and had fun color sorting with Jelly beans!

We continued to work on one to one correspondence, this time by decorating Easter eggs. Our letter focus was the letter E. (E is for Easter and E is for eggs!)

We spent some time sharing with our friends what we all do to celebrate Easter and of course continued our playtime and Green Room fun!

We also had fun with insect week! I is for insect! We each made our own bumblebees using a pattern with yellow and black! We also reviewed our shapes by making caterpillars with circles and rectangles. We even learned about symmetry by painting butterflies and enjoyed looking for insects!

Following these two weeks, see if your child can still tell you the story of Easter. Also see if you can find a few objects that start with the letters E and I to sort together by beginning sound! Take some time outside and see if your child can find ten bugs!

A Week of Blooming!

We always love "digging" into plants and gardening week!

In addition to enjoying more beautiful sunshine, we had lots of fun learning about planting, seeds, and how plants grow.

We loved getting our hands dirty digging in our planting sensory bin. We also continued to practice counting to ten, this time by gluing seeds.

As always, we love to create! While it might not have gone home this week, we made a beautiful gardening craft you are sure to love when you see it!

We also finally got to meet Mrs. Rachel's baby (Lily) on Friday. :)

We can't wait to see each other again next week!

Pond Life!

We "hopped" right into some pond exploration fun this past week!

Just in time for the beautiful spring weather to come our way, we got to learn about some fun pond life facts!

We had fun making our beautiful frog hats and colorful fish... We are a very creative group!

We also continued to work on our cutting and counting skills by counting frogs.

Our letter of the week (letter Q) was Quite fun as well. Did you see what a good job we did dotting the letter Q?

We look forward to our LAST month of class. We can't believe how quickly time is flying by! As we get closer to the end of the year, make sure to continue to work with your child at home! We would love to see everyone counting to 20 independently and recognizing the numbers 1-10 independently.
