With Easter passing during our spring break, we took this week to celebrate a little early! Our primary and most important focus was on how much Jesus loves us… So much that He would die for our sins so that we could live forever in Heaven with Him. Such a simple yet hard-to-understand truth for these sweet kiddos. We pray that our discussions will be another piece in the way that God is making himself known to each and every one in our class. While all of our activities were fun, we do pray that what they remember the most is the story of Jesus' great love!
To go along with our Easter celebration, we had fun making a
beautiful cross craft you can find in the hallway as well as an "empty
tomb" craft. We also talked about how Easter eggs remind us of how
the tomb was empty when Jesus rose from the grave. We had lots of fun with
eggs, of course! We used eggs to help us with adding numbers and
ordering numbers, colored eggs, built sight words with letter-filled eggs, built
Easter sentences, and matched uppercase and lowercase letters with
eggs.
We also had fun with a
letter Easter egg hunt! We look forward to our outdoor Easter egg hunt on
Monday!
Our science fun for the week was also connected to Easter. See
if your child can remember anything about the resurrection rolls that we made!
We placed a marshmallow into a crescent roll after dipping it into cinnamon sugar.
We talked about how the marshmallow represented Jesus (who was without sin),
the cinnamon sugar represented our sin, and the crescent roll represented the
tomb where they placed Jesus. We were amazed when these rolls came back EMPTY
on the third day! Jesus was risen!
We also had fun hypothesizing what our friends put into their
eggs they brought from home!
As always, we enjoyed our play time and our time making our
minds and bodies strong in the green room! We even had a surprise visit from
Mrs. Rose and sweet baby Hunter!
Bridge Class
We also had some Easter fun in our Bridge class this week! We
enjoyed creating our tissue paper decorated crosses after spending some extra
time talking about the Easter story! We had even more fun stamping with
potatoes to make Easter prints and practice addition at the same time! On
Wednesday, we used chalk to make Easter cards for our friends!
Our main academic focuses this week were addition and sight word
practice. I am amazed at how many addition experts we have in this class! We
even practiced putting together full hundreds charts... We are very advanced!
We also enjoyed a second letter Easter egg hunt in our room!
Finding the eggs was so fun!
