Turkeys and Gingerbread Men...

We were so glad to be back together this week after the ice storm and Thanksgiving!

Since we missed two weeks ago, we decided to spend a day in our room still celebrating Thanksgiving! We enjoyed singing turkey songs, making name turkeys, designing turkeys with pom-poms, and talking about our Thanksgiving dinners.

On Friday, we did as many gingerbread activities as we could! Reading the book The Gingerbread Bear may have been one of our favorites all year! Everyone also had a great time trying gingerbread cookies and helping make gingerbread cookies by pouring and stirring ingredients! Some of our other activities included writing letters in cinnamon sugar, decorating cardboard gingerbread houses, and counting buttons on gingerbread men. We even got to decorate a huge gingerbread man to hang in our classroom!

We made an emphasis on being thankful to God for all that we have this week. We also learned about the lame man who was lowered through the roof by his friends to be healed by Jesus. We are thankful for friends and for healthy bodies, just like that man!

You will notice two new poems we sent home this week. We did not have time to work on either poem since we spent lots of time practicing for the Christmas program. However, they would be fun poems to do at home! You will also notice some extra papers we sent home that we were not able to do since we missed a week.

This week, we have two requests! Start practicing the songs for the Christmas program so we know the words and talk with your child intentionally about the real meaning of Christmas. :) That will be our focus the next two weeks!
