Leaves are Falling!

We had another fun week in our class! This week, I was amazed at how great of friends everyone in our class is becoming! Each week, I see their interaction increase, their ability to play nicely grow, and their relationships with one another develop. As their teachers, Nicole and I feel that this is so important and so very exciting to see.

We had a fun week learning about fall weather and how leaves change in the fall. We enjoyed reading the book Leaf Man and making our own "leaf men" to go along with the book. We also read the book Fall Leaves Fall and made our own falling leaves this week! We are doing much better finding letters in our poem of the week... This week we used leaves to cover up all the letter Ls in our poem "Leaves are Falling." See if your child can find all the Ls with a crayon in their poetry folder! Following fall break, I am going to include a few activities for you to do with the weekly poem if you would like to use them to work on letters at home with the poems!

We have been working on tracing our names the past month, and we began sequencing the letters of our names this week using name puzzles. These were a hit in our room! Creating "name puzzles" is also something that can be done at home! We also have enjoyed giving everyone more time to look at books independently in our class library. They are doing a great job with this!

Everyone in our class also did a fantastic job practicing sorting and writing the numbers 1-4 this week. We are working on one-to-one correspondence (being able to point to and count individual objects accurately). This is definitely something that can easily be practiced at home counting socks, at the grocery counting apples and cans, and in the yard counting rocks... Check out the "Fall Fun" sheet we also sent home in folders for some other fun math ideas to do over fall break!

Mrs. Nicole and I will miss everyone these next two weeks and can't wait to see everyone again!
