Eric Carle Week!

We are learning so much in our class! I am amazed at how much progress we have already made!

This week was Eric Carle week at LAP! We had fun reading a variety of books written and illustrated by this author, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, and Mixed-Up Chameleon, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear.  To go along with these books, we enjoyed singing, making marshmallow paint caterpillars, using caterpillar puppets, and creating our own shape chameleons! Everyone is doing a great job listening to our books and carefully creating their artwork.

We also started doing our end-of-the-day table trading this week. These table rotations will be done daily to give us more time to specifically work on pre-writing/fine motor skills as well as mathematical skills such as counting, sorting, identifying numbers, and creating patterns. Everyone was already doing a great job with these and learning to work quietly at their tables. Tracing was one of our skills of focus this week. Feel free to continue this skill at home with any materials of your choice!

Our class loved getting to do some other exciting activities, including learning some yoga from Mrs. Nicole and getting to try out the rock wall for the first time!

Phoenix was so careful at tracing these tricky caterpillar trails!

Pet Week!

What a great week we had in our class! Everyone enjoyed celebrating the animals in our families!

This week, we had a special visit from our friend Amara. Thanks to Amara, we were able to learn about service dogs and what they do.

We learned that we must ask to pet a service dog!
Phoenix did a great job listening!

We worked on counting down with the story Ten Little Puppies and made fun puppy headbands to go with it! We also used paw prints to count how many pets we have and made a graph of what our favorite pets were.

Woof! Woof! Kate knew what to do
when she put on her puppy ears!

Jace was very careful and had fun
counting the number of dots on his ears!

Our letter of the week was P! We made paper plate pizzas using circles and squares... P is for pepperoni pizza! We also made popcorn Ps and continued to practice using our bingo dotters to make the letter P.

This week, we also began working on identifying and tracing our names. We continue to talk about how to be a good friend to the friends in our class, how to share, how to work together, and how to help clean up our room! We are doing a great job!

Kate is already doing great in the
Minds in Motion room!

Counting to ten as he jumps!

Baerli is teaching us all to have a great
imagination! This superhero is fearless!

Working together to finish our farm puzzle!

Tristan is always all smiles!
